Well that was an awesome vacation. What you say, its been two weeks and I have not written? Yes thats true, sorry. This week at work was hell. No scratch that this week has been hell. I got back from vacation on Sunday, I did not even turn on my pager, I did not want to know what was broke and what wasn't. I already had an idea, as I was called on vacation on the Friday that the whole intranet was down. I new what was wrong, knew how to fix it, but of course did not remember the password to tell them. So I told them they could also reset the box. Well of course they had no idea where it was as none of them had ever been to our other facility. Figures... Monday was joyfull trying to get backups working, playing catch up from all the work someone was supposed to do but didn't while I was away. Tuesday was more of the same with a server having motherboard issues. Then lucky me my car died on the way home. There goes $250 bucks for a tow, alternator, and labour. Gotta love it. Oh and I have to work at home that day, which is the day the server from before decides to die. So that was Wednesday. Now lets see its Thursday I have my car back and I spend the day replacing the motherboard of this server, slice up my thumb yanking out a CPU. Overall not horrible, but definitely not the best of days. Friday was play catch up day again, playing catch up to the work that was sitting idle while I worked on the server. Oh and more backup tape issues. Gotta love that. I HATE being in charge of backups, its the biggest pain in the ass job in IT. Things I hate: Managers who have no idea what you do, how you do it, nor care why you do it that way, but still feel for some reason they must change it. Babies growing up. They should stay babies, growing up leads to all kinds of problems. Good books that end. Even if its a good ending, ending means you need to stop knowing about the characters that really interested you. Backups. Being wrong. It rarely happens but I hate it all the same. Being up when your mate is down and down when your mate is up. Or silly when your mate is serious and serious when your mate is silly. Or horny when your mate is not and not when your mate is horny. The economy. Hmm I think thats enough for now. No links in that either, wow...
