Note to self, make sure you remember to put the ! in the #!/bin/sh of an executable file, otherwise you really have no excuse to complain why something doesn't work right...
Lets see whats up... Well back in February we bought a Tivo. And I have to say once you have a device like this you will never watch TV the same way again. You watch the shows YOU want to watch WHEN you want to watch them. You do not have to watch stupid commercials, and if you care to you can save it around for as long as you want. Without stupid tapes to swap and mess around with. Needless to say my wife was at first skeptical, but as soon as she learned it she was grabbing things she would love to watch, and had mastered it very easily. Well at the end of July, it died. *poof* no more Tivo. We luckily had bought the extended service from Circuit City when we had purchased it. They shipped out the device to their repair center and we should have it back in 7-14 days. Well 10 days later we get a call that their repair center could NOT fix it, and they were forwarding it to Sony (the manufacturer) to see if they could, and it would be a few more days. Notice the word FEW. Well two weeks after that, here we are going on 4 weeks (in between I had called once to get a status), I call for another status. Circuit City calls back while I am out and gets my wife. And says that Sony says they have not even looked at the unit and that it will be another 2-3 weeks before they look at it. I of course am NOT happy. Cause you know EVERY night we are saying, man I wish we had Tivo. I call up to complain, I know its not Circuit City's fault and that its Sony thats holding it up. Unfortunately they do not have any Tivo units to give us, or they would have gladly swapped it out. So instead the manager is going to call around to find one, and/or try and get this expedited with Sony to fix. Skip ahead a week later, I call back, since I still had no word and the manager has not been able to find a unit. BUT, apparently ReplayTV is now doing a monthly subscription plan like Tivo, which brings the cost of the unit the SAME as a Tivo. He says we could trade for that, and he has one of those Units in house. I told him we would look at it, and if my wife feels that the system is as user friendly for her that will be great. Well to make a long story even longer... We decide to go with the ReplayTV, unfortunately the unit the manager had known about was sold. So instead they go through their online system, find a unit there, have it shipped to my house overnight (eating the shipping charges themselves), and we still get a mail in rebate of $50 that they are giving out. Now granted this is what SHOULD have happened, but so often you find stores or people unwilling to live up to their service obligations. They will hem and haw and not give you what they want. And if the ReplayTV had not come up with a monthly plan, they probably would have had to go thru red tape in order to refund us. BUT they were never a hassle, they were always helpful, and if the ReplayTV does NOT meet our needs, they want us to bring it in and they will take it back. Thats the RIGHT attitude, and I am glad to hear it! Ahhh now I can get back to watching my shows...
